How to send alerts from TradingView to Discord
In order to send an alert from TradingView to Discord you need two things:
- Get the key from the ProfitRobots Discord bot
- Setup Chrome Extension/Webhooks and setup alerts
How to get a secret key for the Discord
Step 1. Join our Discord Server
You can join using two ways:
- open this link
- or push Add a Server in the Discord, select Join a server, and enter the next link: https://discord.gg/Pn8aMQ2
Step 2. Start a conversation with Profit Robots Bot
Find Profit Robots Bot in the list of contacts on our server a send any message to it.
It should reply to you and give you a key (NOTE: the key is missing on the screenshot, but you will have it). This is your personal key. All messages for that key will be forwarded by the bot into your private dialog with the bot.
You can type S to get all your keys (you can have more than one key) on the main menu. To back to the previous menu level type C (Cancel).
Generate a new key or delete it
You can regenerate any key. In order to do that you need:
Step 1. Type M
Step 2. Type an index of a key you want to regenerate
Step 3. Type R
The bot will generate a new key.
To delete the key you need to follow the same steps but type D instead of R. But only channel/group keys could be deleted.
Creating a channel key.
You can send messages to Discord channels. Each channel will have its own secret key. Follow the next steps to get that key.
Step 1. Type A in the Manage menu
The bot will reply to you with a brief description, a link to add a bot and the list of available channels. You need to be an owner of the server in order to add a bot to the channel.
Step 2. If the required server not in the list of available servers then follow the link to add the bot
Select the server and push the Authorize button.
Step 3A (If you an owner of the server)
Type R to refresh the list. The bot will print the updated list.
And select the channel by typing its index
The bot will reply to you with a key.
Step 3B (If you not an owner of the server but you do have Manage Channel permission)
Mention the bot on your server. The bot will detect that message and give you the key which you can use to post messages.
There are two types of channel keys:
- Write keys. This keys allows you to post messages into the channel
- Read keys. This keys allows you to read messages from this channel in trading platforms like MetaTrader)
How to send alerts from TradingView
There are two ways to get alerts from TradingView: Chrome Extension and webhooks.
Chrome Extension is more powerful and can catch Screeners alerts but you need to keep the browser open at all times. Alerts will be skipped otherwise.
Webhooks will work even when your PC is off. But you have fewer options for controlling alerts and you need to have a paid TradingView account for that.
Send alerts using Chrome Extension
Step 1. Install Chrome Extension
You need to install TradingView Alerts Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store. Click on the Add to Chrome button and confirm installation when Chrome will ask you for confirmation.
Step 2. Setup Chrome Extension
Right-click on the TradingView Alerts extension and select Options.
Put your key the bot gave you on the previous steps into the Telegram/Discord Key. Push the Send test message button. The bot should send the test message and tell you the result of the check near the Id of the Key field. Push the Save button if the message was received successfully.
Step 3. Set up alerts on TradingView
You can set up the alert like any other alert. The Chrome Extension will catch the alert and send it to the bot. But make sure you have enabled the Popups.
That's all, just keep the TradingView page opened, so the Extension can catch the alerts.
Sending alerts using webhooks
All you need is to set up the alert, check the Webhook URL option and put URL https://profitrobots.com/webhook/00000:000
Where 00000:000 is your key
